About the University
The University of Yangon, founded in 1920, is Myanmar’s oldest modern university and has long been regarded as the country’s premier institution for arts, sciences and law.[web:18][web:26] It currently comprises twenty-one academic departments ranging from Anthropology and Law to Zoology, with teaching undergoing an ongoing modernization programme.[web:17][web:16]
